Choosing art is the fun part. Choosing the size, and then getting it on the wall straight, is where most people come unstuck. This guide covers both, room by room, with the same advice we give customers who email us every week. Ten minutes here and you'll hang your print once, in the right spot, at the right height.
Our prints run from A5 up to A1, so there's a size for a bookshelf and a size for the big wall above the sofa.
Postcard territory. Lovely leant on a shelf, propped on a desk, or tucked into a gallery wall as a supporting piece. It's the size to reach for when you want a little art in a small gap.
About the size of a magazine. It suits narrow wall slots, alcoves and gallery walls, where several small prints work together. On its own in the middle of a big wall, it will look lost.
The popular middle child. Big enough to be noticed above a bedside table, in a hallway or in a kitchen nook, small enough to fit almost anywhere. If you're unsure between two sizes, this is often the safe answer.
Real presence. It can hold a wall on its own, sit confidently above a sofa or bed as part of a pair, and still leave breathing room in a smaller space.
The statement size. One A1 anchors a room by itself, no gallery wall required. When people tell us a print looked smaller on screen than they expected, A1 is usually the size that would have fixed it.
Every size is printed on 300GSM gallery paper with a matte finish, so the quality is identical whichever you choose.

Art should be roughly two thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. Above a 180cm sofa, that means around 120cm of art, which is one large print with generous margins, a pair side by side, or a small gallery wall. A single A4 above a big sofa will always look like an afterthought, however lovely the print.

Walls are bigger than they look, and screens make everything feel larger than it is. In seven years of selling prints we've had far more people wish they'd sized up than down.
A quick way to test before you buy: cut a piece of newspaper or wrapping paper to size, stick it to the wall with masking tape, and live with it for a day. It costs nothing and settles the question instantly.
Your biggest walls live here, so this is where larger sizes earn their keep. A single A1, or a pair of A2s, above the sofa is the classic move. Keep the bottom edge 15 to 25cm above the sofa back so the two feel connected rather than floating apart.
Above the bed, treat the headboard like the sofa: art about two thirds its width, hung 15 to 25cm above it. Either side of the bed, an A3 above each bedside table adds balance without crowding the space.
Hallways are made for art, because people pass through at close range. A3 prints work brilliantly here, either as a row with even spacing or a relaxed gallery wall that grows over time.
A little personality goes a long way. An A5, A4 or A3 in a clear spot away from the hob keeps the print safe from steam and splashes. Food, botanical and animal prints all feel at home here.
Hang art where small eyes can actually enjoy it. For a child's room, it's fine to break the grown-up rules and go lower, roughly the eye level of the child once they're standing. Just keep prints, cords and frames well out of reach of cots and climbing spots. Our kids wall art collection is full of friendly faces to choose from.
Prints cope fine in a bathroom with decent ventilation, though we'd keep them away from direct splash zones. A framed print behind glass gives an extra layer of protection.
Galleries hang art so its centre sits about 145cm from the floor, which is average eye level, and it's a rule worth borrowing at home. Measure 145cm up the wall, and that's where the middle of your print should sit. Most people hang art too high, so if a print feels slightly low as you're holding it up, it's probably right.
Two exceptions. Above furniture, the furniture wins: position the print relative to the sofa or headboard (15 to 25cm above it) rather than measuring from the floor. And in rooms where you're mostly sitting, like a dining room or snug, drop the centre a touch lower so the art meets you at seated eye level.
Keep 5 to 8cm between frames, treat the whole cluster as one big artwork centred at 145cm, and lay the arrangement out on the floor before a single hook goes in. Mixing sizes works well as long as something ties the group together, and the easiest something is matching frames. You need less kit than you'd think: a pencil, a tape measure, a hook or nail suited to your wall, and ideally a spirit level (your phone has one built in).
A picture hook and masonry nail, or a screw and wall plug for heavier framed prints, will hold happily for years.
Use a plasterboard fixing rather than a bare nail. Self-drilling plasterboard plugs take seconds and hold far more weight.
Adhesive picture strips are excellent now. Framed prints up to around A3 sit comfortably within their limits; for a framed A2 or A1, check the weight rating on the pack or use a proper hook instead. Whichever size you're hanging, follow the pack instructions on wall type and weight, press firmly, and leave the strips to bond before hanging. Unframed prints can also be leant on a shelf, mantelpiece or deep windowsill, which looks relaxed and makes rearranging painless.
Whichever method you use, measure twice. To place the centre of the print at your chosen height, measure the distance from the top of the frame to the taut hanging wire or bracket, and offset your hook by that amount. It's the step everyone skips and the reason so many hooks end up with two holes beside them.
Every print comes unframed, or in a solid wood frame in black, white or oak, made to fit exactly. Framed prints arrive ready to hang, which removes half the faff above. If you already own frames you love, unframed is the way to go. You can also buy our solid wood frame separately.
